NEW STUFF
AS OF 2/10/1998

This page contains amendments to anything and everything that we've found that needed it. Do you have something to add? Email us at jcl@menloschool.org.

General Notes:

Delegates are urged, but not required, to remain in costume during the chariot race and other athletic events. If you're wondering how to do that, just make short costumes-tunics like the ancients wore. The women can hike up their stolas and tie them in a knot like Venus in Book I of the Aeneid. You are under NO obligation to do this.

From the Office of the Parliamentarian:

Convention is approaching quickly. This is the only change that will be voted upon at the Convention on March 6-7. For each school to be eligible to vote on the constitutional changes, one Constitutional Delegate must be present at the amendments caucus at 1:00pm on Saturday March 7th. The amendments delegate should read and be familiar with the change for discussion at the Amendments Caucus. Please put the name of the delegate on the voting delegates sheet included in the second mailing. Any questions or comments about either the Election or the Amendments Caucus should be directed to: Chris Cordes, CJCL Parliamentarian, by phone at (714) 857-5533 or via email at c3fifty@aol.com.

Constitutional Changes:

Article V. Section 6 Part B:

Original Text: Disciplinary Action and Impeachment: Disciplinary action and/or removal from office shall be decided by the Executive Board members in assocation with the sponsors of the petitioning chapters.

New Text: Disciplinary Action and Impeachment: Disciplinary action and/or removal from office shall be decided by the Executive Board members in assocation with the sponsors of the petitioning chapters. The disciplinary action and/or removal from office must be approved by at least a 2/3 majority of the Executive Board in order to be enforced.

Reasoning for Change: The constitution does not state how the disciplinary action shall be decided. This amendment clarifies that an Executive vote must be passed for disciplinary action and/or impeachment to occur.
